The town is situated on the upper watercourse of the river Ibar and on the highway Kosovska Mitrovica – Berane. It was created around the medieval fortress, and in its vicinity there are remnants of the old church Ruzica (Rose) after which the town of Rozaje got its name. The remnants of an old settlement and a church erected during the time of Helene of Anjou, the wife of the Serbian king Uros I from the 13 th century, are found on a peak nearby. The nearest mountains are Zljeb, Hajla and Turjak. There are exceptional possibilities on the Rozaje area to develop tourism, both summer and winter one. The nice mountain of Hajla with its six sources, which built the river of Ibar, is very suitable for excursion and winter tourism.
